Carr Golf, Ireland’s leading golf management group, will end its 7-year relationship with the Spawell Golf centre in Dublin on 30 September. Following discussions with the new owners of the Spawell complex, Carr Golf has decided to terminate its management agreement due to the lack of visibility it received regarding the owner’s long-term plans for the site.

Marty Carr, Group CEO of Carr Golf, explained why the business is ending its management of the Templeogue facility. “The Spawell Driving Range requires significant investment to build its quality up to the standards of operation we require, to meet the growing expectations of the modern day golfer. Given the lack of visibility of the new owner’s plans, and following a period of multiple transfers of ownership, we are unwilling to commit the required investment and resources to the facility. Without these improvements, the facility no longer fits with our company strategy of providing excellent golf experiences.”

“The decision to end our relationship with this iconic golf facility in Dublin was a tough one. However we are focussed on some great growth opportunities within the game that are more aligned to the future of golf – whilst continuing to deliver experiences that will help our clients grow sustainably in what is a congested and competitive golf market.”

Any golfers with remaining balances on their Spawell Golf Centre loyalty cards are encouraged to use their credit prior to the 30th September.
