2010 World Invitational Father & Son Golf Tournament


Format & Details



Format


Two man teams of Fathers & Sons will play a total of 54 holes using a stableford format.

Wednesday 11th Practice round all day
Thursday 12th Fourball best ball stableford format (best individual score per hole counts towards the team score)
Friday 13th Scotch Foursomes stableford format (Both players drive and play alternative shot off the best drive)
Saturday 14th Fourball best ball stableford format (best individual score per hole counts towards the team score)

Flights


There are two Flights in the event. There is a Nett Prize and a Gross Prize. The Nett Prize will be for the 21st World Invitational Father & Son Trophy (JB Carr’s Irish Amateur Trophy).

After 36 holes there will be a cut where the top 24 teams, and ties, will play in the final round. On Saturday 14th the remainder of the teams will play in a one day plate competition using a fourball best ball stableford format. Prizes will be awarded for the winning teams in the Nett, Gross and Plate categories. Prizes will be presented immediately after play, at the main scoreboard.

Handicaps


Maximum Handicap allowed is 24. Three Quarters (3/4) of handicap is applicable for the event. In Scotch Foursomes teams will play off 50% of the combined handicaps. A conversion scale is available. Official GUI, USGA (Home Course Handicap) or appropriate Governing Golf Union Handicap as of 31st July 2010 will be required. In the case of US Handicaps a current USGA Handicap card must be produced on check-in and this will be checked through the GHIN system on the web. In the Case of GUI handicaps, a current GUI Swipe Card must be produced on check in and at least four qualifying singles competition scores must have been posted in the current year as per GUI eligibility criteria. The tournament committee reserves the right to adjust handicaps prior to the event based on previous performance or on observation.

Pace of Play


Please observe an acceptable pace of play during the tournament. If you are out of a hole or cannot contribute to your team’s score, with a minimum of 1 point, please pick up. The tournament organizers have retained two Course Rangers who will assist players and ensure the pace of play is acceptable. If you are approached by the Ranger, please co-operate.

Tees


All play will be from the Father & Son Markers (white tees).

Scoring


The Stableford point system works as follows:

If you Do Not have a shot on a hole

Double Bogey = 0 points
Bogey = 1 point
Par = 2 points
Birdie = 3 points
Eagle = 4 points
Double Eagle = 5 points

If you Do have a shot on a hole

Double Bogey = 1 point
Bogey = 2 points
Par = 3 points
Birdie = 4 points
Eagle = 5 points
Double Eagle = 6 points

1. On your scorecard Dots will appear on the holes on which you have shots
2. Please always enter both players Gross Score on the card
3. In the event of zero points on a hole please put an X in place of the score
4. Players must check, sign & submit their cards with the scorers in the tournament marquee immediately after play


VPAR


VPAR - The tournament will have live scoring throughout using the VPAR handheld system. A handheld device will be handed out on the 1st tee and 10th tees with instructions on how to use it. All scoring will be updated from this VPAR system so it is necessary for one person to be designated to update the scores on a hole by hole basis. Your co-operation is appreciated in this regard. Scoreboards and Pods will be available throughout Waterville for the duration of the event. For more information on V-Par please visit www.vpar-golf.com.

Rules


Play is governed by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews except as amended by the local rules noted on the back of the Scorecard.

Sky Caddie / Range Finders / GPS


Range Finders are permitted at the 2010 World Invitational Father & Son Golf Tournament. Sky caddies will be provided at the event for each team and players are responsible for the safe return of these to the scorers tent after play each day.
