How to Play the Old Course at St. Andrews
It is not too early to start making plans for a visit to the Home of Golf in 2012, and there are three options available to you to secure a tee time on the Old Course.

Guaranteed Old Course Tee Time
Guaranteed Tee times can be secured by purchasing an Old Course Package which includes a minimum of three nights.Packages include three rounds of golf including one guaranteed Old Course tee time, lunch each day, one dinner as well as an official souvenir and photograph. There is obviously a premium associated with these guaranteed times which works out at approximately £1,915 per person for the above three night and three round package. It is best to plan ahead and booking for 2012 is now strongly advised. There are a number of accommodation options in the Old Course Package.

Carr Golf Travel Special Trade Times
As a specialist Tour Operator, Carr Golf Travel can apply for discounted times for our clients. As a tour operator partner of The Old Course we will be allocated tee times under this method.
1. Clients planning a trip to Scotland in 2012 need to file their requests for Old Course tee times no later than 1st October
2. The maximum number of golfers per application is 8. These tee-times are sold in 4-balls only
3. Successful applications will be notified by 10th November 2011
4. Payment must be made by 20th November 2011, otherwise times will automatically be released and cancelled
5. The payment is non-transferable and non-refundable.
Ballot / Lottery
The third option open to visitors is to apply for a time through the Ballot (or lottery) which is drawn each day. This is the best way to secure a good value tee time but offers no guarantee of success and therefore is often not considered ideal for overseas visitors planning in advance. However, if you want to take your chances in the draw we are happy to organise your accommodation, alternative golf over, say three days, and ensure your name appears on the ballot for the Old Course each of these days. You can ballot for 2 4 golfers at a time. If you are a single golfer we suggest you approach the starter on the day you wish to play and let him know that you are willing to join in any groups that are not playing in fourballs. He will seek to accommodate you should a spot become available. This will only work for golfers on their own.
For 2012
The St. Andrews Links Trust announced it will change its ballot policy by announcing results a day earlier than the current policy of revealing tee times the day before. The new 48-hour rule will apply to everyone entering the ballot: locals, tour operators and visitors in the area booking their own times.
