Carr Golf Services has managed to bring together a professional, knowledgeable, skilled and experienced team, unrivalled by that of any of our competitors. Each member of the team brings specific skills to the table such as golf operations management, financial, marketing, course design, course maintenance, web design and maintenance and most importantly, an in-depth knowledge of golf.

Marty Carr

Marty Carr (43) is Chairman of the Carr Group which operates the business interests of the Carr family who hail from Ireland. The Carr Group comprises Carr Golf Travel, Carr Corporate Events, Carr Golf Services and Links Helicopters.

Based in Ireland, Marty has a BSc in Finance from the University of San Francisco and he lived and worked in the US for nine years until 1989. He founded Carr Golf Travel in 1990 and has developed the Carr Group into a successful business. The Carr Group is a golf specialist company comprising golf course management, development, consultancy, golf and corporate travel and aviation. Marty is a recognised authority on golf and maintains a hands-on role in managing the organisation.

Prior to founding Carr Golf, he worked with Paine Webber (now UBS) and also NCB Stockbrokers. He is also Chairman of the Ireland Golf Tour Operators Association and a member of Portmarnock Golf Club, Mount Juliet Golf Club and an honorary member of Old Head Golf Club, Doonbeg Golf Club, Dromoland Castle Golf Club and the Floridian Golf Club in the US.

Marty's father Joe Carr was Irelands, and one of the worlds leading amateur golfers, in the 40's, 50's and 60's. His 40 championship wins, three British Amateur victories and three US Masters appearances was only surpassed when he was elected captain of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in 1991, the only Irishman ever. Other members of the family have played Walker Cup and represented Ireland at international level. Marty has the name, but not the game, playing off a handicap of 10.

Ed Pettit

Ed Pettit joined the Carr Group in 2006 as CEO of Carr Golf Services and took up the position of Commercial Director for the Carr Group in August 2007. During his first year in the company he successfully reenergised the services business, securing additional contracts and greatly modifying both the work practices and vision for the company leading to greatly enhanced revenue and profitability. Prior to joining he was Operations Manager at PGA National Ireland at Palmerstown House, one of Ireland’s most prestigious golf resorts. Ed was responsible for setting up the golf operation there prior to its opening in 2005 which involved recruiting the team, writing up and implementing standard operating procedures and overseeing its successful running, generating profits in excess of €1 million in its first year, before joining the Carr Group in 2006. A qualified PGA Golf Professional, Ed has a degree in Sports Management from University College Dublin, finishing top of his class. Ed has held several positions in some of Dublin’s bigger member clubs such as Hermitage Golf Club and Killiney Golf Club.

Stephen Lyons

Stephen Lyons – is the Financial Controller for the Carr Group. An AAT qualified technician also with a Diploma in Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Stephen has over twelve years experience working in varied finance related roles. Before joining the Carr Golf Group he spent five years working for computer giant Hewlett Packard as a Finance analyst where he managed over fifty million euro in leased assets spread over central Europe. His ambition and drive for success led him to become our Financial Controller in 2004 and has since proved himself as an innovative and progressive member of the Groups leadership team.

Carol Hession

Carol Hession joined the Carr Group in September 2007 to take on the position of Marketing & Business Development Manager Carol joined the company from Kerry Group plc, where she held roles in the field of marketing and communications. Carol grew up in Galway and was educated at NUI Galway where she undertook a Bachelor of International Commerce, a year of which was spent in the Universidad de Valencia, Spain. She continued her education at Smurfit Business School and holds a Masters of Business Studies. Carol also graduated from the Irish Management Institute (IMI) with a Certificate and Diploma in Management Practice.

Roger Barrett

Roger Barrett joined the Carr Group in November 2006 as a Marketing Executive. Roger grew up in Cork, where he was a member of Mahon Golf Club and Fota Island Golf Club. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Commerce from University College Cork before continuing his education at the Smurfit School of Business in Dublin, where he earned a Master of Science in Marketing Practice.

Brian Healy

Brian joined the Carr Group to take on the position of Marketing Executive in January 2008. He joins the company from FBD Insurance where he was a key member of the marketing department. Brian is originally from Mayo and attended NUI Galway where he completed a Batchelor of Commerce degree. Upon graduation he went on to attend the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business undertaking a Masters in Marketing Practice (M.Sc.M.P).

Nicki Coffey

Nicki Coffey joined Carr Golf as an assistant professional in September 2006. In November 2007 she was appointed Operations Manager for the Services Section. Nicki qualified from University College Dublin in 2004 with a BSc in Sports Management. Prior to joining Carr Golf she was a Business Development Officer for a small golf company based on the south side of Dublin. Her time in UCD and experience as a development officer have given her a firm understanding in the needs and requirements of successful facility management, she provides a hands on approach to ensure all Carr Golf Services facilities are run to the highest standard.

Catherine Murphy

Catherine Murphy joined the Carr Group in 1999 and has over 16 years experience in the Golf Industry having previously worked in sales & administration roles for two prestigious golf resorts Luttrellstown Castle & Fota Island Golf Resort. She has worked for both the travel and services divisions of the company throughout the years and now holds the position of Corporate Sales & Special Projects Manager. In 2006 she successfully assumed the role of Carr Golf’s project manager for the Ryder Cup Helicopter Contract at the K Club and was also Project Manager for Carr Golf Travel’s Ryder Cup programmes and managed travel for in excess of 1,000 individuals. Catherine also held the position of administrator for the Ireland Golf Tour Operators Association from 2000 – 2005. She grew up in Cork and holds an IATI Accounting Technician Qualification.

Una Egan

Una Egan joined the Carr Group in September 2007 as Executive Assistant to the Management Team. Prior to joining she worked for three years for BDO Simpson Xavier one of Ireland’s leading Financial Consultancy Companies. She holds a Diploma in Media & Journalism from DBS.
