Literally translated from Latin as "The Star of the Sea", the Stella Maris Country House Hotel & Restaurant is the result of a complete restoration of a fortress built by the British Admiralty in 1853. Throughout the restoration process, the owners have managed to maintain the integrity and character of the original building, while providing modern day comforts and standards. The antique furnishing throughout are interspersed with contemporary features such as top-grade bedding and linens, high-pressure showers and modern bathrooms, while the common areas, including the restaurant, bar, lounge and conservatory provide a casual and relaxed ambience for the comfort of guests.
While still maintaining traditional appearances and featuring a wide array of antique furniture, Stella Maris has been thoroughly modernized to provide guests with a high level of comfort. Each of the 12 bedrooms has its own private bathroom and while some feature seperate bathtubs, all have a high-pressure water system to provide visitors with soothing hot showers.
Proprietor and Executive Chef, Frances Kelly, oversees an inspiring kitchen that provides diners with selections from a wonderful traditional Irish menu, including fish caught the same day in local waters. An inviting lounge is available for your favorite refreshments after a relaxing day of golfing, fishing or simply enjoying the pleasant serenity of the area. The climate-controlled conservatory overlooks Bunatrahir Bay and providing mesmerizing views for guests.
