Review
Built in the 1760's and set on the shores of beautiful Lough Swilly, Rathmullan House is the very personification of Georgian elegance. The county of Donegal itself is undoubtedly one of Ireland's most beautiful places and it offers everything from the rugged beauties of the raging Atlantic, idyllic lakes, rambling hills, craggy mountains and extraordinarily scenic walks. The hotel stands amid an award-winning garden with beautiful trees and lawns, which stretch down to the Lough and its own private stretch of strand.

The hotel is tastefully decorated with three elegant sitting rooms, furnished with antiques and fine paintings, and providing views of the gardens and Lough. The dining room is renowned for good food and its particularly hearty breakfast, while the bedrooms are each well appointed, with some offering some superb sea views. Guests can relax in the bar, take the opportunity to swim in the indoor pool, unwind in the steam room or enjoy a soothing massage.

While staying at Rathmullan House, the many nearby attractions include Glenveagh National Park, home to the largest herd of Red Deer in Europe and offering 16,000 hectares of mountains, woods, lakes and wild bog; Glebe House, an impressive regency structure, housing a collection of works by Picasso, Jack B Yeats and Bonnard. The nearby Grianan Aileach, dating back over 2,000 years, is an impressive hilltop stone fort and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
