Over half a century ago, Guadalmina began when an entrepreneur from the Basque country, Don Norberto Goizueta, acquired the land that presently encompasses the residential area of Guadalmina, Golf Hotel Guadalmina and the Guadalmina golf courses. In 1952 the small golf club and hotel which is now Golf Hotel Guadalmina was inaugurated in conjunction with the 9 hole Guadalmina "South" course, the second oldest golf course in the Costa del Sol. The private golf club of Guadalmina and the Goizueta family allowed guests of the hotel to be one of the first to play on one of the first golf courses of the Spanish coast. This policy promoted Spain as a golfer's holiday destination and Guadalmina soon become known as a golf holiday destination.

The Guadalmina Golf Hotel is ideally situated on the seafront and surrounded by 36 magnificent holes of golf. Guests have the added advantage of being able to tee off just outside the hotel.
