Details
Flamingos Golf Club covers an area of about 1.381.000 square yards in the region of Benahavis. Situated in the stunning countryside the estate incorporates a lake of more than 109,000 square yards and is surrounded by beautiful un-spoilt countryside with stunning views across the sea and towards the mountains. This Golf Club will be essentially made up of four golf courses. The Flamingo Rosa, an 18 hole golf course, host of the 2002, 2003 and 2004 European Seniors Match Play Championship, the Flamingo Blanco another 18 hole par 59 and two 18 hole courses that are soon to be completed.
The Flamingo Rosa golf course is situated in one of the most beautiful enclaves of the Costa del Sol. From each of its 18 holes, designed by the architect Antonio García Garrido (who also designed the famous La Quinta Golf Course), players will enjoy breath-taking views of the Mediterranean Sea, Africa and Gibraltar. The variety of vegetation on the course includes cypresses, orange, pine trees, carob, chesnut and promegranate trees which create an atmosphere for an unforgettable round of golf.
The Arroyo del Taraje Stream passes through the course and ends in a lake which constitutes a natural border for the course at the tees 1 and 10. 6,460 yards (par 72) in length, it is a technically demanding course, particularly over the front nine and the par four 10th is the most challenging hole on the course. Water plays an important role at this hole, requiring a tee shot to a particular area of the fairway to setup a chance of playing over the water to reach the huge, undulating green. There are also two artificial lakes, on the 15th and the right-hand side of the 16th and 17th. All bunkers on the course are filled with ground marble. Some of the tees are elevated such as the 4th, 9th and 17th, to give unobstructed views of the greens as well as stunning, panoramic views over the Mediterranean. The Flamingo Rosa golf course represents a garden of a Tuscan Villa, which is the style of the 5 star "Hotel Villa Padierna". Therefore on some of the fairways and borders of the course, you will find Roman columns, classic style statues and marble bridges. Additional facilities include a Pro Shop, coffee shop, terrace, 2 putting greens, driving range and club, trolley and buggy rental. Hotel Villa Padierna, which opened in spring 2003, is the Clubhouse for the golf course, with its two restaurants "La Loggia" and "La Véranda" and its bar, it has the perfect setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
