The Masía Bach Golf Club is set in the heart of the beautiful Alt Penedés countryside at the foot of the Monserrat mountain range, where some of Catalonia's best wine is produced and it is a perfect round for golfers who love a challenge. Just 20 minutes from Barcelona city, the club enjoys an excellent location in tranquil settings but yet it is within close proximity to Sitges and Barcelona. Over two million cubic metres of earth were removed to shape this demanding American style golf course designed by José Maria Olazábal and the superb complex hosts, in addition to the championship quality golf course, another gentler 9 hole course for higher handicap players.

Recently voted the 5th best in Catalonia by the readers of Golf Digest and host to the 1999 Spanish Professionals' Championship, the demanding 18 hole course is a favourite of good golf players as the greens are undulating and quite difficult. You can see Olazabal's influence on the design as the fairways are wide and the shots to green must be very accurate. The course has many hazards, such as rough ground, ditches and valleys lurking on most holes to catch errant shots. Blind tee shots are common with bunkers being the best indication of direction and the par 3s look very dangerous but their lengths are reasonable. The spectacular 8th is the signature hole, created by slicing off the edge of a mountain side, with a lake on the edge of this right to left dogleg. The course is extraordinarily demanding and varied, with few recovery holes, so finishing under par is quite an achievement. The shorter 9 hole course is less demanding and a pleasant playing experience.



The club' facilities are regarded as among the best in the region and they include an impressive driving range in addition to a putting and a pitching green. Both individual and group lessons are available and the Pro shop offers good variety. The three storied club house is large and well equipped with a heated indoor and outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, squash, fitness area, sauna and changing rooms.

Take the A-7 motorway from Barcelona to Tarragona and turn off at exit 25 towards Martorell. Follow the B-224 to Capellades and the course is located at Km 19,5, about 25 Km from Barcelona.

The restaurant is located a short distance outside the city so transport is necessary.

Known to be one of the top restaurants in Barcelona the restaurant has an elegant variety of French and Basque cuisine that can be enjoyed on the outdoor patio. Dishes include hake served fried with garlic or garnished with clams and served with fish broth; well-prepared, succulent roast lamb or grilled rabbit; and excellent desserts.

Widely considered to be the best seafood restaurant in Barcelona, you'll be served nothing but the best fish and shellfish Galicia has to offer. The meat dishes are also excellent and there's a great range of Galician white wines to choose from as an accompaniment to your meal. If you don't want a full meal, you can sit at the bar and order tapas, raciones (larger portions) or even the speciality sandwiches, called torpedoes.
