Steve & Kaitlyn Lee Prevail in Record Breaking Fashion at the World Invitational Father & Daughter Golf Tournament

Waterville Golf Links, Co. Kerry, Ireland;

The 9th World Invitational Father & Daughter concluded at the famous Kerry Links with the US coveting four of the top five places.

Steve and Kaitlyn Lee from Westchester Country Club and Winged Foot Golf Club won the gross category, posting a stunning 6 under par gross total over 36 holes. Kaitlyn played the Waterville course in 74 shots, a course record for the ladies in a competitive round. The victory came hot on the heels of their victory in the Winged Foot Father & Daughter late last week. Bill McGuiness and his daughter Mary from Pine Valley GC/Tavistock GC were second with Michael and Stephanie Sullivan from Garden City GC in third.

James and Mary Layden from Bel Air Golf Club won the net category with a total of 94 points. James Layden won the inaugural event 9 years ago with his daughter Katie. The Layden’s won by two shots from Jenna and Ray Perdue from Crystal Tree GC with Rocky & Hannah Downton from Canada in third place.

The event which is hosted annually by the Carr & Layden families and run by Carr Golf, hosted 32 teams from US, Canada and Ireland. Speaking when accepting his winner’s trophy Jim Layden said “This year’s event was without doubt a turning point for the tournament. Playing one of the finest golf courses in the world, with first class organisation, nightly dinners and sing-songs, the comradery between a wonderful group of like-minded dad’s and their daughters has made this a very special week in our lives and one of the great Father & Daughter experiences in golf.”
