Steve & Kaitlyn Lee Prevail in Record Breaking Fashion at the World Invitational Father & Daughter Golf Tournament

Waterville Golf Links, Co. Kerry, Ireland;

The 9^th World Invitational Father & Daughter concluded at the famous Kerry Links with the US coveting four of the top five places.

Steve and Kaitlyn Lee from Westchester Country Club and Winged Foot Golf Club won the gross category, posting a stunning 6 under par gross total over 36 holes. Kaitlyn played the Waterville course in 74 shots, a course record for the ladies in a competitive round. The victory came hot on the heels of their victory in the Winged Foot Father & Daughter late last week. Bill McGuiness and his daughter Mary from Pine Valley GC/Tavistock GC were second with Michael and Stephanie Sullivan from Garden City GC in third.

James and Mary Layden from Bel Air Golf Club won the net category with a total of 94 points. James Layden won the inaugural event 9 years ago with his daughter Katie. The Layden’s won by two shots from Jenna and Ray Perdue from Crystal Tree GC with Rocky & Hannah Downton from Canada in third place.

The event which is hosted annually by the Carr & Layden families and run by Carr Golf, hosted 32 teams from US, Canada and Ireland. Speaking when accepting his winner’s trophy Jim Layden said “This year’s event was without doubt a turning point for the tournament. Playing one of the finest golf courses in the world, with first class organisation, nightly dinners and sing-songs, the comradery between a wonderful group of like-minded dad’s and their daughters has made this a very special week in our lives and one of the great Father & Daughter experiences in golf.”

Lee & Sullivan shoot lights out at 9th World Invitational Father & Daughter Golf Tournament in Waterville

The 9^th Staging of the World Invitational Father & Daughter Golf Tournament teed off in Waterville today with 32 teams from the US, Canada and Ireland. There were some spectacular scores with 2 under par leading the gross category.

Gross Division
The first day of the 9^th Father & Daughter saw some low scores in tough conditions. Steve and Kaitlyn Lee from Westchester Country Club and Winged Foot Golf Club, who won the Winged Foot Father & Daughter earlier in the week, are leading the Gross division on 2 under par. Kaitlyn is 14 years old and plays off a 3 handicap. They are two ahead of Michael and Stephanie Sullivan from Garden City Golf Club and Garden City Country Club, who shot level par. Bill McGuinness from Pine Valley with his Daughter Mary who plays out of Tavistock Country Club lie in third on 4 over par.

Net Division
James and Mary Layden from Bel Air CC are tied with Ray and Jenna Perdue from Crystal Tree Golf Club on 47 points. Gerard & Lauren Griesser from Applebrook GC lie third on 46 points.

Carr, Gerry (Ratoath, Co. Meath) 16^th July 2016, after a short illness; peacefully, surrounded by his family under the wonderful care of the team at the Bon Secours Hospital. Gerry will be missed greatly by his loving wife Fidelma, sons Jordan and Adam, sister Sibeal, brothers Jody, Roddy, John, Marty & Brano, Peter & Mary, brothers and sisters-in-law, step-mother Mary, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephew, colleagues and friends. Gerry is now joining his late Mum Dor and Dad Joe. Funeral Mass on Tuesday 19th July at 1:00 pm at Mount Argus Church, followed by cremation at Mount Jerome. Family flowers only, donations to the Irish Cancer Society.
